Q&A Tuesday - The very first one!

How did you get started in photography?

I grew up in a home filled with photographs. Shelves filled with albums, boxes filled with 4x6 prints, and walls covered with the faces of those most important to my family. I never had an “AH-HA!” moment when I realized I wanted to be a photographer… I think the value of documenting life was instilled in me at a young age, and that has translated into a passion for helping other people document their lives as well.

Does photographing newborns give you baby fever?

Newborn sessions make me excited to have kids SOME DAY… But for now, they’re the perfect dose of adorable for me to hold me over until then ;) I always say that when the time comes for Jon and I to have babies, they’ll be the most-photographed children in the history of ever.

What do you like to do when you’re not doing photography?

When I have free time (but let’s be real, what is free time!?), I spend as much of it as I can with my husband. Our schedules in this stage of life are C R A Z Y, so we cherish every second of our time together. Basically, I like to spend my free time with people I love. There’s nothing better you can invest your time into than your friends and family.

What is your all-time favorite photo shoot?

Oh geez. This question is TOO. HARD. I didn’t expect you guys to ask impossible questions like this, haha! I don’t think I have an all-time favorite, but one I REALLY loved was Ellayna’s modeling session. It was a just-for-fun shoot, and everything was just surreally perfect. We both finished the shoot with smiles on our faces and happiness in our hearts. Now, my goal in every session is to finish that way, and to make my clients as excited about their experience with my photography as I am about photography itself.
